Abstract
The
Plant Bowen Unit 3 and 4 boiler houses were designed and built by Georgia
Power Company in the early 1970's. A diverter damper is being installed
between each boiler economizer outlet and air preheater for seasonal operation
of the selective catalytic reduction system. The damper installation
requires the opening of the boiler house wall to allow ducting out of the
boiler house to the SCR and back into the boiler house to the air preheater.
This requires modification of existing bracing and the installation of
new trusses to accommodate the heavy damper assemblies (600k each).
An additional structure is also being attached to the boiler house to allow
access to the SCR and to house equipment that serves the SCR.
The
presenter will discuss the challenges encountered and walk the audience
through the actual model, cutting sections, plans and areas in GT STRUDL
that greatly aid in understanding the work.
